No special preparation is needed. However, you may be asked to remove jewelry, clothing, or accessories that may interfere with the X-ray.

The patient may be asked to stand or sit in specific positions (like AP or lateral views) to get clear images of the shoulder joint. The technologist will capture the images quickly, usually in a few seconds.
