The procedure is painless, but positioning may be uncomfortable if there is an injury. The X-ray itself is quick and non-invasive.
The patient may be asked to stand or sit in specific positions (like AP or lateral views) to get clear images of the shoulder joint. The technologist will capture the images quickly, usually in a few seconds.
